Empowering the Next Generation of Female Racers

More than Equal is a global motorsport initiative dedicated to dismantling longstanding barriers that have prevented women from reaching the pinnacle of racing—Formula 1. Founded by Grand Prix winner David Coulthard and entrepreneur Karel Komárek, with CEO Ali Donnelly at the helm, the program is structured around four core pillars:
Data-driven research
Talent identification
Bespoke driver development programs
Connecting emerging talent with investment

Through research published as the Inside Track report, More than Equal revealed that only 4% of elite motorsport drivers are female. They highlighted systemic hurdles such as insufficient track time, lack of female role models, and financial obstacles, which need to be overcome to pursue success.

Data-Driven Female-First Talent Scouting

The initiative employs an “Olympic-style” identification methodology to scout girls aged 13–14 globally, selecting its first cohort in May 2024. Among them were drivers from Australia, Malaysia, Czechia, and the UK, selected using rigorous global benchmarking and psychological profiling. The program offers tailored technical, tactical, physical, and personal development support.

In partnership with Hintsa Performance and professional race coaches, each athlete receives a holistic training plan that reflects cognitive and gender-specific needs—an approach rarely seen in male-focused talent pipelines.

Cutting-Edge Cognitive & Neuroscience Integration

At its core, More than Equal incorporates state-of-the-art cognitive training methodologies, including integrating NeuroTracker into their driver development programs, a tool used used by F1 and top NASCAR drivers. Alongside this they incorporate brain endurance training to enhance situational awareness, reaction time, and mental stamina—crucial for split-second performance on track.

A strategic partnership with Kitman Labs equips the program with a comprehensive intelligence platform that centralizes performance, cognitive, physical, and emotional data. Coaches and drivers access real-time analytics and actionable insights through customized mobile tools—enabling precision-led development across multiple performance dimensions.

Reshaping Female Motorsports Culture

More than Equal is breaking stereotypes and creating structural reform with initiatives like:

  • Advocating for diversity in sponsorship and equipment design—echoing findings from drag racing’s inclusive evolution.
  • Offering parental education on gender-specific development needs, guiding parents to serve as fundraisers, mechanics, coaches, psychologists, and emotional anchors for their daughters.
  • Highlighting female physiotherapists like Stella Zhang on the F1 Academy support teams—championing representation at every level.

Why More than Equal is Set to Go from Strength to Strength

  • Female-first design: Built specifically for the developmental, physical, and psychological needs of young women.
  • Evidence-based framework: Research-backed methods and metrics underpin each stage.
  • Elite coach network: Collaboration with Hintsa Performance and top-tier race coaches ensures world-class preparation.
  • Holistic integration: Cognitive, physical, emotional, and community support delivered through cutting-edge tech.
