As I come up to one year at CrossFit de la Cité, I’ve been reflecting on how much this past year has taught me, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
Like many people balancing work, family, and the everyday demands of life, there are times when things feel full. Not always in a dramatic way, but in the steady, ongoing way that can make it easy to put your own wellbeing further down the list. Over the past year, one of the biggest lessons for me has been that staying well does not always come from doing something big. More often, it comes from doing small things consistently. Also when you show up for yourself, it trickles to positively impact every other area of your life, from work, to family.
That has probably been the biggest shift for me.
When people think about progress, they often imagine intensity. A major reset. A burst of motivation. A dramatic new routine. But my experience has been much simpler and much more sustainable than that. Real progress has come from showing up. From staying consistent. From keeping a few positive habits in place, even when life feels busy or stressful.
CrossFit has become one of those anchors for me. Over the past year, it has given me a space to reset, stay disciplined, and keep moving forward one day at a time. There is something powerful about returning to a practice regularly and seeing what that adds up to over time. It is not about being perfect. It is about building trust in yourself through repetition.
CrossFit has given me so much gratitude in the positive changes to my mindset, energy, confidence, discipline, and stress management.
Alongside that, meditation has also played an important role in helping me stay grounded. Taking time to slow down, reset, and create a little mental space has been just as important as the more active side of my routine. For me, this past year has really reinforced how connected the mind and body are. When one is neglected, the other usually feels it too. When both are supported, even in small ways, everything feels more manageable.
What I love most is the online meditation practice with Erica and that it is always available from anywhere to log in and do a quick breathing exercise when feeling stressed or a sleep meditation before bed to calm and regulate the nervous system.
Another thing this year has reminded me is that consistency is often easier to maintain when it is not done alone. Support matters. Encouragement matters. Sometimes just knowing that someone is checking in, cheering you on, or expecting you to show up can make all the difference.

I’d like to give a special shoutout to one of my closest friends, Eliana Landori, this past year, who introduced me to strength training and CrossFit and became an accountability partner for me and my biggest cheerleader. That kind of support means a lot. It is easy to underestimate how powerful those small moments of encouragement can be, but they really do help keep you moving when life gets busy. On the days I felt unmotivated or tired, you were there—pushing me, reminding me of my goals, and helping me stay committed whether you were near or far.
Because of you, I didn’t just build a habit—I built strength, discipline, and confidence in myself. Thank you for showing up with me, for believing in me, and for being such an important part of this journey. I truly couldn’t have done it without you.
I’m deeply grateful for the communities and people who’ve supported me in different ways this year. CrossFit de la Cité has been a big part of that—the coaches and the community have made it a place I’m always drawn back to.
My meditation practice with Erica Arsenault has also been incredibly valuable, helping me stay grounded, calm, and present, especially when managing stress or anxiety. Together, these routines and support systems have done more than keep me active—they’ve helped me build a more balanced and sustainable rhythm in my life.
At work, we spend a lot of time thinking about performance, resilience, and the importance of staying sharp in demanding environments. As someone with a background in neuroscience and as a CoFounder of NeuroTracker, every single day I am focused on how cognitive performance, attention, and mental resilience can be trained and maintained over time.
I have learned from working with some our high profile clients that holistic performance isn't just about mental sharpness or physical fitness in isolation, but about how both work together to build consistency, resilience, and confidence.
Overall, this year has been a personal reminder that personal success is not just about pushing harder. It is also about taking care of yourself in ways that are realistic, repeatable, and sustainable.
That is what I keep coming back to: small daily goals, steady effort, and the people who help keep us going.
One year in, I’m grateful for the progress, but even more grateful for what the process has taught me. Consistency may not always be the most dramatic path, but it is often the one that brings benefits that last.
